Music Monday – Finally Home

Last night at church we had a time of sharing testimonies.  My brother-in-law John shared how during a week of camp at Alethia Springs, he was made to see that when Christ returns, whatever was not done for Christ would be destroyed.  Something that he said struck me as very pride-shattering.  He said, “I realized that the first 20 years of my life would be burned up – gone!”

Although I know that the intent of his testimony was to bring glory to God and His grace, I couldn’t help but be thankful for the wisdom and maturity that I’ve seen in John’s life the past few years.  He is a testament to God’s grace and strength even through times of difficulty.  And then I thought of this song.  Here is Mercy Me singing “Finally Home.”

Lyrics:

I’m gonna wrap my arms around my daddy’s neck and tell him that I’ve missed him
And tell him all about the man that I became and hope that it pleased him
There’s so much I want to say, there’s so much I want you to know

When I finally make it home
When I finally make it home

Then I’ll gaze upon the throne of the king, frozen in my steps
And all the questions that I swore I would ask, words just won’t come yet
So amazed at what I’ve seen, so much more than this old mind can hold

When I finally make it home
When I finally make it home

And the sweetest sound my ears have yet to hear, voices of the angels

When I finally make it home
When I finally make it home
